Where are you on the path to sustainability? Take the next step: visit AMB 2024 to discover new solutions for greater productivity starting with the first part
New hardware variants of the TNC
With three different monitor sizes and two different operating panels, the TNC7 portfolio has the perfect hardware variant for your application. Visit the HEIDENHAIN booth or TNC Club Lounge at AMB to experience first-hand the smooth touch operation of our 16-inch, 19-inch and 24-inch Full HD monitors. And see whether you prefer a full-sized keyboard or a compact machine operating panel. Regardless of the hardware, your productivity still goes up thanks to typical TNC7 features such as intuitive, context-sensitive user guidance and innovative software options such as MAS graphical 6D setup support, DCM dynamic collision monitoring and OCM high-performance trochoidal milling.
HEIDENHAIN will be highlighting its “basic” version of the TNC7 at AMB. The TNC7 basic lies near the lower end of the HMI portfolio, replacing the popular TNC 620. Its 16-inch touchscreen features Full HD resolution. Particularly space-conscious users can opt for a machine operating panel with only the most essential functions. The TNC7 basic can be used with the typical, wide-ranging TNC7 software options that boost user-friendliness, efficiency and process reliability.
Two potentiometers in one multi-functional operating element: the new OC 310 override controller facilitates working with a TNC7, since the user can now regulate both the feed rate and rapid traverse with just this one operating element. The user is supported by the new “Conditional stop” software function, for intuitive, convenient and one-handed proving-out of NC programs. The user simply defines breakpoints in the NC program at which the control will stop during program run (such as before a tilting function, when the tool is changed, or when the machining feed rate changes to rapid traverse). The override controller vibrates to generate tactile feedback, simplifying the user's workday. Each user can define the events for which this function is active.

New solution for your tools: VT 122 3-in-1 measuring camera
Combining three roles in one intelligent system, the new VT 122 vision system, in conjunction with the VTC software, handles the roles of tool presetter, tool microscope and visual inspector. Obtained straight from the machine’s work envelope, its images enable detailed inspection of the tool’s cutting edge and deliver the information needed for holistic tool evaluation. The system’s smart camera and software can automatically measure a tool’s length, diameter and wear width. Tools can be inspected without a trip to the metrology lab, allowing users to work faster while providing automated tool-wear documentation.
Detect tool breakage while avoiding knock-on damage and scrap. The TD 110 tool breakage detector from HEIDENHAIN accomplishes all of this from within the machine envelope and integrates seamlessly into automated processes. The TD 110 also saves time, performing breakage inspection up to six seconds faster per tool change.
Reliable positioning without purge air: Encoders with True Image technology
Enclosed encoders from HEIDENHAIN with innovative True Image technology ensure clear scale readings inside your machine tool, even when exposed to condensation and other liquid contamination. In many cases, HEIDENHAIN LC linear encoders and RCN angle encoders can reliably deliver high-accuracy position values without purge air. With a more streamlined purge air system, users simultaneously benefit from closed-loop position feedback, a 99% smaller carbon footprint and much lower system costs.
30% faster workpiece setup with the TS 460 touch probe
Increase your available cutting time by reducing the time you spend probing. Featuring high probing feeds of up to 3000 mm/min, the TS 460 workpiece touch probe can accelerate workpiece setup and in-process inspection. Consistently accurate probing is supported by built-in blowers that remove chips from the probing surface prior to measurement. The TS 460 can also be equipped with a dependable crash protection feature that prevents costly damage and thermally decouples the touch probe.
The new MSY motors from HEIDENHAIN are an attractive solution for auxiliary and feed axes on machine tools designed for mid-range to high performance. Their compact form factor makes these motors ideal for applications with rigorous space constraints. Featuring the ideal speed stability typical of HEIDENHAIN motors, the MSY solutions ensure high workpiece surface quality during machining. Contributing to this is the latest generation of HEIDENHAIN encoder technology used in the MSY motors. It goes without saying that MSY motors are perfectly matched to other HEIDENHAIN machine tool components, including CNC controls. And thanks to a purely serial communication architecture, these motors couldn’t be easier to install and connect.
Designed for machine tools: highly-dynamic motors from HEIDENHAIN and ETEL
Motors have a major impact on the accuracy and surface quality of machine tools. Key criteria include the motor’s maximum torque, the torque ripple, and the inertia ratio between the motor and its load, all of which are particularly well-matched in the motors of HEIDENHAIN and ETEL.
